The trays are here!

Hi everyone!

It has been a while, but today we have big news for you regarding Mysthea, so here we are! 

The factory took longer than we expected to manufacture the trays. This is due to the fact that we thoroughly supervised the process in order to optimize them. 

We want to be sure that miniatures will travel safely to your destination and that the tray will fit sleeved cards. We also want to be sure that the tray can fit miniature with colored bases mounted on it. This way you can speed up the set-up without having to attach bases to all the Troops and Golems!

As you can see from the images, we made sure that also sleeved cards would fit nicely in their slots! We really wanted to get this right, because these are the kind of small details that can make a difference on the overall production quality. Now that we are holding them in our hands we could not be happier about how they turned out to be!

Volfyirion, strictly connected to Mysthea!

As some of you already know, our new project Volfyirion is currently live on Kickstarter! This is another great success for us, we managed to fund it in just 40 minutes and currently we have more than 4200 backers unlocking a lot of stretch goals!

For those who don't know about it, Volfyirion is a 2 players deck-building card game. It is set in the Mysthea universe, just 60 years before the events of the board game. It tells the story of Volfyirion: the mighty dragon that you can see in the Volarees Playerboard!

The base game is only 9€, but you can upgrade it with an amazing 120mm miniature of Volfyirion itself.

An expansion for Mysthea

Now here's the thing, you can get just the Dragon Miniature and use it on Mysthea as an expansion!

This huge miniature comes with cards and special rules to use it on Mysthea (and in future on Icaion) as an expansion!

Picture this, Volarees hubris has taken a toll on the Guild and they decided to deploy Volfyirion alongside their Champion on the journey to the Five sacred Islands, but the wild energies erupting from the Henakor unshackled Volfyirion from the Guild’s control. 

The dreadful creature is now on a rampage, threatening the success of all other Guilds’ expeditions too. The Guilds are now forced to join forces and cooperate in order to defeat the dreadful and fearful dragon.

The Dragon Miniature is placed in the center of the map: this new rule will prevent the Islands from moving and will drastically change the game mechanics!

During the dragon’s attack toward the island it's facing, all players are called upon to defense. It is up to each player to stand up to their nemesis or call a retreat and abandon the opponents to their fate!

If Volfyirion is not defeated, it will destroy everything on the unfortunate Island.

If you want both the Volfyirion miniature expansion and the Card Game, you can do it so getting the Kickstarter Exclusive Collector's Box and save even more. But without further explanation, just visit the new campaign and see everything for yourself!

New Rulebooks available

Good news on the localization side! Spanish, and Greek Rulebooks are here. As with the Portuguese one, the Greek Rulebook is a community sourced translation. Please everyone give a round of applause to Kostas Fanakis and Nadia Xinou for the great work they did to ensure Mysthea would have one more language available!

       

As usual, read them and let us know if you find any issue that might have slipped through the cracks, like typos or whatsoever! Remember that your help is much appreciated!

Mysthea minis are ready!

Finally the miniatures of Mysthea arrived from the factory! We were so excited when we unwrapped the package and we had the chance to look inside the box. The level of detail is extremely high and we couldn't be more satisfied with the results!

Volfyirion is coming!

Furthermore, previously we announced our new project, Volfyirion, go check it out in case you missed it! Now we are finally ready to show our progress with the miniature sculpt.

Brace yourself, here's Volfyirion the Dragon:

This is the biggest miniature we've ever created, it will be 120mm tall! We believe it's necessary to have a huge miniature if the subject is a dragon, don't you think?

Yet most importantly the size helps a lot with immersion, since this gives the player a sense of scale on how dreadful this dragon actually is.

We are extremely excited about this project because the dragon was the most requested add-on during our campaign. 

We decided to create a whole new set of rules for Mysthea, making a mini expansion that can be bought by itself if backers just want to add the dragon to their collection. But we didn't want to stop there and we were able to also create a whole new game about the dreadful Volfyirion.

This is a great achievement for us. It's going to be amazing and it's all thanks to your support!

Volfyirion Mechanics and special KS price!

A lot of you asked for more details about the mechanics, so we decided to update the project page and explain the key features of this game, but we also created another page that explains the core mechanics of the game.

Last but not least, the game will have an extremely low special Kickstarter price!

Cardboard production ended & the comic is a huge success!

One step closer to delivery

Hey everyone! We have great news since we reached an important phase of development, so here it is: the cardboard, paper and wooden production ended while plastic production is going on smoothly!

We are eagerly waiting to receive all the production samples from the factory and as soon as we get it we will be able to share with you all the photos! In the meantime, here's some pictures of the miniatures that the factory sent us!

This means the next step is the end of production and sea delivery to fulfillment centers.

We are very proud of what we accomplished so far, for both the quality of each component and the timing of the different stages!

Volfyirion miniature is almost ready

Regarding Volfyirion, the game development is proceeding very smoothly and soon we will be able to share a lot of great news and details about the upcoming game!

One of the most important things we will be able to unveil soon is the model for the Volfyirion miniature, can't wait to share it as we are sure you are going to love it!

In the meantime our BGG listing was approved, so don't forget to go there and become a fan!

The comic, what a success!

We are happy to announce that the comic "A Journey Into Mysthea" is going great! People reacted very positively to its first issues and they are totally engaged by it! 

Probably because its adventurous and exciting plot, but also because with this comic people can have a say in how the story evolves,overturning the fate of the characters thanks to our community choices!

Right now our community just finished voting on the second issue. If you missed the previous newsletters and you want to catch up to the story, you can find all the issues of the comic come out so far on our website. To give you a glimpse, below you'll find a part of the second issue, check it out!

New paths to explore

We have received so much positive feedback about the Art behind Mysthea and Volfyirion that we decided to explore new paths in this direction. 

Since it's something that does't regard boardgames, we decided to avoid talking about this on here. We will announce it on our newsletter, on Facebook and to all our comic subscribers, to give you plenty of options if you want to learn about it!

New project announcement: Volfyirion

Now that Mysthea production started we can catch our breath and finally take some time to share with you our future plans. As some of you may already know, we have been working on a new project lately and we are excited to finally announce it!

With this project we wanted to try something different creating a competitive and fast paced deck-building card game for two players… with a twist!

In the game you will employ everything you have trying to destroy all your opponent cities. Your army and Qoam manipulation will be your most reliable asset, but you will also be able to try to tame and control Volfyirion the Dragon: a dreadful beast that can bring destruction on the battlefield on your behalf. But beware: your opponent will try to do the same!

Volfyirion will be a standalone card game that can be played with just a deck of cards and an included wooden token to represent Volfyirion. But we decided to expand it with a big miniature of the Dragon available as an optional add-on. Because you guessed it: Volfyirion is the dragon that can be seen in the Volarees Guild artwork! 

During the campaign of Mysthea, the “Volarees Dragon” was one of the more requested add-ons and we really wanted to make it happen. This game is the perfect opportunity for us to make it a reality!

Since this dragon mini was so requested, we want to include everyone in this project. So if you aren't interested in the card game we will also offer the option to get just the Dragon's miniature and add it to your collection along with Mysthea!

The dragon miniature will be usable on Mysthea, we are currently working hard to find the best way to implement it in the game. We have many ideas and we are testing a lot of different mechanics, we can't wait to share more news with you about this because the result is going to be awesome!  

The game setting

Volfyirion takes place sixty years before the events of Mysthea and as you can image this new game will expand deeply the existing lore, giving you new exciting details about the Kingdom’s history and how it become what it is today!  

During this time, Mysthea was a different place. King Ahatils was still conquering enemy Kingdoms and he was really busy in doing so. For this reason he delegated the management of the all the newly conquered lands to his trusted men as a reward for their help in war.  

Two Houses loyal to the king were ruling the lands around the City of Kyradar, a once great city left in ruins by the King's conquest. Everything was peaceful until one day a dreadful beast came from the sky and settled in the ruins of Kyradar, creating its lair in the remains of this once noble place.

After some time things settled and the two Houses started to approach the beast learning that they could tame it with the use of their Qoam powers. Things escalated immediately, with each House trying to be the one to gain complete control over the dreadful creature. A war between the two Houses started and only one will prevail. 

What happened during and after this war? Why this dreadful beast now peacefully roams in the Garden of the Pure in Ilvash? What has to do the Volarees Guild with Volfyirion? 

We are working hard to update the lore to create an expanded universe that will answer all these questions so stay tuned to read everything about it!

October 2018 on Kickstarter

The game is much simpler than our previous titles and it will be in a shockingly low price range! With Volfyirion we want to make the wonderful world of Mysthea available to everyone.

We have a lot more to share with you about this project: from the new expanded lore to the way the dragon will function on Mysthea. We are working to make everything fit together in this expanding game universe.

Since we are discussing if we should talk about this new project on Mysthea updates or not, we have decided to let you choose! Write in the comments if we should continue to talk about Volfyirion development in the updates or if you prefer that we just stick with news on Mysthea! Factory Samples: minis are here!

When the samples meet the expectations 

Hey, you all, we have great news! We recently received the pre-production samples of the miniatures from the factory and we are excited to announce that they are exactly like we expected them to be. 

Miniatures pre-production is a really delicate part of creating a game since any issue that may arise here impacts production times and creates delays of the game delivery. For this reason we were waiting them with great trepidation and we are glad to discover that everything turned out well. 

We can't tell you how impatient and excited we were when we received the package from the factory.

The level of detail we will be able to retain in production is really high, this is great news for all the mini-painters out there! Can't wait to see how you are going to color our Champions and Monsters.

We haven't had to report any problem to the factory and gave them the "go ahead" to start the production of the molds. This shouldn't take long and as soon as the molds are ready the factory will start to produce all your miniatures!

This is another great milestone that we passed and we can officially announce that the production of the game started and is going smoothly. At this point everything from our side is cleared and we just have to wait for the factory!

The 1st issue of the comic is almost ready

On the last update we announced the comic and in the meantime we decided its name, here it is:

Onto another new project

The comic isn't the only project we are working on right now, and really soon we will be able to make a big announcement about what's going on. But here's a sneak peek hint directly from Travis:

This is the City of Kyradar, miles away west of Ilvash. The whole place lies in ruins after being sieged more than half a century ago by the king Ahatils during his conquest of Mysthea.

Time passed, and after the siege a mighty beast settled in these ruins, creating its lair in the remains of this once noble place.
